The Nubian Manifesto
African Diaspora and Colored Peoples of the US and Britain, Break Your Chains and Unite Under Islam!

The Middle Passage: A British Slave Ship Bound for North America
Dear Friend of Color,
As-Salamu
Alaykum. My name is Khalid Gibran Ali. I am African-American. As you
may have guessed, that wasn't my name at birth. Like the vast majority
of you, my African brothers and sisters in the US and Canada, in
Britain and Australia and other places where the British slave-traders
once roamed freely and murderously, my Black siblings and I had an
Anglo-Saxon surname at birth: Johnson.
But over two decades
after I was born with this name, and after I had converted to Islam, I
began to look at my surname in disgust. "Johnson" was not the surname
of my ancestor from Africa, brought over in chains and humiliation,
beaten at leisure in a slave ship, tortured, trapped in filthy quarters
below deck, and forced to endure torment unimaginable to the rest of us
today. "Johnson," rather, was the name of the corrupt and greedy White
man in Britain or in the United States who fueled this sick trade-- and
who bought my African forefathers and foremothers when the slave ship
docked in North America. "Johnson" was the name of the Englishman in
the 18th century who brutalized my ancestors, who beat our menfolk and
raped our womenfolk, exposing them to shame, profiting handsomely from
their labor on a plantation while paying nothing in compensation to
them or their descendants.
So I refused, any longer, to honor
the surname of an Anglo-Saxon individual who despised, humiliated and
victimized my blood ancestors from Africa. My identity, and most
especially my name, I would choose for myself, and I would choose a
name from the Islamic faith that, almost alone among the world's belief
systems, has declared that I and my Black brothers and sisters are
equal to the White man and woman in the watchful eyes of God.
My
own journey to Islam was a meandering and often uncertain path, but I
haven't written this to brag about myself or bore you with my personal
details. This is not about me. This is about the liberation struggle
of the African diaspora, and about embracing the Message of Muhammad
(PBUH), of Issa (PBUH) and other great Messengers of the Holy Word,
whose voice has been drowned out by the powerful White propagandists
who despise us, who despise-- you, my friend.
You see, among all
the truths of the modern and recent world, some relative and some more
absolute, there's one truth that hasn't changed much at all in 500
years, despite countless elaborate disguises to proclaim otherwise:
The Whites in power in this world Hate Niggers, and they violently hate
"Uppity Niggers" who respect themselves and dare to stand up for our
rights. Whites tolerate Niggers so long as we keep our mouths shut and
do their dirty work for them, making them rich. But dare to speak up?
We're targets for destruction and ruin. We Blacks, of course, have a
long history of this.
A Very Brief History of Nigger Hatred in the UK and the US

British Slavers Murdering Africans on a Jamaican-Bound Slave Ship
Centuries
ago, in 1562, the first English slave trader, a sailor by the name of
John Hawkins, picked up some slaves in West Africa and sold them in the
Americas. When he returned to boast of his sale to England's Queen
Elizabeth I, her response was characteristic, a classic example of her
country's hatred for Uppity Niggers. She was initially critical of
Hawkins for his human trade, but when Hawkins showed her just how
profitable his voyages had been, Queen Elizabeth changed her tune so
quickly that she herself invested in his voyages, even buying Hawkins
some new slave ships including the "Jesus of Lubeck," which displayed,
on its disgusting prow, the symbol of an African in chains as the
emblem of its commerce. Decades later, however, the Queen seemed to
grow tired of all the Niggers who had been making her and her kingdom
rich, expelling or killing thousands of Blacks from England despite the
service they had provided. It was the same for us in later centuries--
Whites were perfectly happy to exploit us and use us for their labor
needs, but when we spoke up for ourselves or got "too numerous," we
were violently attacked.
The same pattern continued for
centuries later, and not only among Africans. We in the African
Diaspora, of course, are not the only Niggers in town. The British had
millions of "Niggers" in their wretched Empire, whom they never
hesitated to beat down if they dared to speak up. The British killed
35 million "Darkies" in India through centuries of forced labor,
intentional famines and warfare. The British nearly wiped out the
Niggers who once prospered in Australia, the Aborigines, while waging a
genocidal war against the Maori Niggers in New Zealand. The British
were of course infamous for their decades of brutality in promoting
apartheid against the Niggers of South Africa. And then, of course,
the British had more Niggers closer to home-- their "Nigger Colony" in
Jamaica, where they brutalized and worked to death millions of
defenseless Blacks.
The British hated Niggers and they passed
on that Nigger hatred to the Americans, who outdid even the British.
The Anglo-Saxons in America operated the world's most expansive and
bloodiest Black Slave system, and Northerners enriched their pockets as
much as Southerners into and past the Civil War. The Anglos were of
course happy to wage other genocidal wars against other groups of Hated
Niggers, against the Native Americans and the Mexicans in the 19th
century, against the Filipinos and the Vietnamese in the 20th century--
anywhere that Niggers dared to stand up, they had to be beaten down.
Even many supposed White "Heroes" were Nigger-Haters to the core and professed themselves as such. "Sir" Winston Churchill prided himself on the number of Niggers he'd killed in close combat when he was young in the Sudan, and he publicly expressed his deep hatred for the Indian Niggers in South Asia, whom he killed by the millions in the Bengal Famine in the 1940's, after he'd killed thousands of Niggers before while the British representative in Iraq in the 1920's. (Churchill was desperate to use poison gas against the Iraqis who were humiliating the British military in an anti-colonial rebellion in the 1920's-- sound familiar?) Franklin Delano Roosevelt, even as he lent out his hand to poor White people in America, was happy to screw over Blacks at every opportunity and deny them even basic protection from lynchings, standing silently as Blacks were pushed out of jobs and homes during the Depression years. He, like many other lofty-talking and high-minded Whites, was a hypocrite when it came to the Niggers whom he feared and loathed in similar quantities.
Modern Nigger Hatred: How Dare those Sand Niggers Stand up for their Rights?
The
same story goes today, and thus it is that in the modern world, the
most hated Niggers are the Muslims, because they're the Niggers who've
had the most gall of anybody in declaring their rights to equality, justice and respect. We
all know the story here. The wealthy White elites in the US, you see,
want control of the oil that rightfully belongs to the Muslim people of
the countries in the Middle East. They're even willing to kill to get
it, yet the Ruling Elites in the US never dreamed they'd face so much
opposition from the Uppity Niggers of Iraq, of Palestine, of Lebanon
and Iran, and so the propaganda machine is now at full steam, blasting
out Bright Red Bloody hatred of the Niggers who stand in the way of the
US Elites and the oil they covet so much.

The "Peace" of Lebanon, courtesy of US and Israeli bombs, c. July 2006
To beat down the
troublesome Niggers standing up against the US elites and their
desperate desire to control Mideast petroleum, the US uses both direct
attacks, as in Iraq, and America's proxy, Israel, as against the
Palestinians and now the Lebanese. Here, we must make an important
distinction. The ordinary working White Man is not your enemy. The
ordinary working Jew is not your enemy. The ordinary working Israeli
is not your enemy. All of these people are oppressed themselves by
their own greed-filled elites, the arms dealers and the oil giants, the
upper echelons of Greed and Theft who run the levers of the modern US government, corporations and media. A large number sympathize with you and suffer many of the same travails.
But most are not attacked to nearly the same degree of viciousness or
in the same manner as the Uppity Niggers like you and me, and they are
easier to dupe and recruit in doing the Dirty Work of killing people
like you and me. They are joined by a group of loud and ugly
evangelical pseudo-Christians in the US, the Christian Right, who
believe that a bloody war in the Middle East would rapture them to
heaven, and are willing to spill the blood of the hated Niggers to help
bring about their selfish and disgusting objectives.

Eye candy for US imperialists in Iraq: Some Hated "Sand Niggers" on the Run

US "liberation" of Iraqis in Abu Ghraib
Just as
it was in the days when so many Jews were lured into the slave trade,
even as their fellow Jews looked on in dismay, so have the ruling
elites of the US managed to lure Israel into becoming nothing more than
a boot on the foot of the US imperialists to stamp out the annoying
Muslim Sand Niggers of the Middle East who thwart them at every turn.
The Sand Niggers of Iraq, of course, have stood up for themselves and
are humiliating the US War Machine. The Sand Niggers of Lebanon are
withstanding the full might of the US-Israeli bombs and delivering the
US and their Israeli proxies an embarrassing defeat. The Sand Niggers
of Palestine continue to frustrate and fluster both the Americans and
the bought-off Israelis in their own fight for justice.
We Must Unite under Islam
The
struggle of us, members of the African Diaspora in the US, Britain,
Australia, Canada and South Africa, and the struggles of the Muslims in
the Middle East against the murderous US, British and Israeli
militaries, who never hesitate to aim their guns at helpless kids when
they feel it suits them-- our struggle is the same, my friend. It is a
shared struggle with the Negrito aboriginal peoples of Australia and
New Zealand, a shared struggle with the dark-skinned peoples of India
whom the British reviled with such a murderous hatred. It is a
struggle that must unite us under Islam as our faith.
Islam is
not perfect, no faith or philosophy is or can be. It has its own
flaws, and it will not guarantee you happiness, or tranquility, or
accomplishment or solidarity as an automatic prize for your adoption.
What your embrace of Islam will do, however, is to finally teach you
much about your lost history and to give you a set of practices and
living standards that will guide your life in a way to make you one
with your people, and a responsible and contributing member of your
community. Most of all, in Islam and in this faith alone, are you
equal under the watchful gaze of Allah with Whites, with Jews in the
US, with Israelis and with anyone else. You are no longer a despised
Nigger, you are a channel of God's thought and an equal member among
God's children. You are no longer permanently identified as a
descendant of a member of an inferior people, whose enslavement was and
is justified by those who arrogantly and falsely call themselves
"Christians"-- you are equal to them at birth, and capable of exceeding
them in your words and deeds. We as African-American Muslims have long
been established here in the United States, and in Michigan, in
Chicago, in New York, in New Jersey and even in Louisiana, we are an
ever growing presence in the communites of black youth, helping the
people economically and socially.
Too many people misunderstand
Islam, and the Muslim-hating propaganda of the modern media encourages
this further. Muslims do not hate Jews or Christians, and we certainly
do not hate the prophets of those faiths. Great individuals such as
Moses (PBUH), as Solomon (PBUH), as Isaiah (PBUH), as Mary (PBUH), as
Paul (PBUH) and as Jesus (PBUH) are holy to us, just as our Messenger
Muhammad (PBUH) is. We treat all of them with great deference, and we
respect the faith of others as much as we demand the same respect for our own. But
in Islam, we among the Colored Peoples have our most direct and
undistilled connection to the Holy Word, glistening in its demand for
equality and justice, and unsullied and unfiltered by the
Propagandistic Voices among the White ruling classes who distort its
message to enslave us and break our solidarity instead.
We should also be wary of those who claim to be our friends in high
places, and to those of you among the African-American community in the
United States, you know who I'm talking about. For us here in the
States, the Democratic Party for all its flaws, is still our most
reliable ally in the political realm and has done far more for us than
the Republicans. The Democrats by and large should still retain our
support, but far too many among their number are themselves members of
the same imperialistic ruling elite that has despised us for centuries
and continues to violently oppose the Niggers who dare to stand up for
themselves. You should never, ever lend an ounce of support to the
Imperialistic Democrats who support the war against the hated "Sand
Niggers" in the Middle East-- Democrats such as Joseph Lieberman,
Hillary Clinton, Joseph Biden and Dianne Feinstein loudly proclaim
their loyalty and love for the bombs that are ripping the colored
children in those countries to shreds, and you must not support them
one iota. Nor should you support the House Niggers like Condoleezza
Rice. As the great Harry Belafonte pointed out, Condi Rice, like many
privileged House Niggers in the 1820's who gleefully whipped and
humiliated their fellow Blacks toiling in the fields, is now gleefully
participating in the merciless slaughter of the Sand Niggers in the
Middle East and the Field Niggers closer to home with her support of
the murderous policies of the George W. Bush Administration. She is a
figure to be loathed, not supported one bit by us in any form.
I
urge all of you among this Diaspora, whether you are a hard-working
Black man on Chicago's South Side or a mother in West Louisiana, a
Jamaican emigre in Britain or a Ghanaian immigrant to Canada, a Malian
in Australia or a South African still fighting for justice, an
aboriginal Negrito in Australia or a Negrito Untouchable in India, to
join together and embrace Islam in solidarity. In our own continuing
fight for justice, we must conduct ourselves in a nonviolent manner,
and we must engage in dialogue that is constructive and open-minded at its core. But we must, above all, stand together and stand up for
ourselves and justice, and the first step in doing this is to reclaim our very
identities from the mental scourge of the White imperialists who
continue to rule our minds as much as they once directly ruled our
bodies. Only by standing together with our brothers and sisters in
Palestine, in Lebanon and in Iraq, can we advance our cause and make
ourselves heard.
Peace,
Khalid Gibran Ali
